About

Genevieve Camilleri is an Oscar nominated Visual Effects Supervisor with over 13 years of industry experience. Camilleri has a Bachelor of Multimedia and Digital Arts as well as a Postgraduate Diploma in Film and Television (Visual Effects). Prior to completing the above education, Camilleri also studied a Bachelor of Science (Biotechnology)/Arts (Media and Communication) - Double Degree. 

 

Her visual effects career began back in 2009 in Melbourne, Australia where she was granted an internship after graduating from University to work as a motion graphics designer for a small TV commercial studio. After completing the one year internship she then swiftly made her way into the film industry specialising as a Compositor. She spent five years working her way up from Junior to Lead Compositor for a local studio called Iloura (now Framestore). During this time, she became a key team member and was responsible for developing the final look on such films as Ted, Emperor and Mad Max: Fury Road.

Camilleri then ventured off to Vancouver, Canada to expand her skill set. She spent 2.5 years working as a Senior Compositor for one of the worlds most renowned visual effects studios, Industrial Light and Magic, as well as a Lead Compositor for Method Studios Vancouver. With a brief return to Australia in 2017 to work as a Lead Compositor for Animal Logic Sydney, Camilleri then moved back to Montreal, Canada where she made her debut as a Composting and Digital Effects Supervisor. During this time she supervised several films and TV series such as Top Gun: Maverick, Velvet Buzzsaw and Love, Death and Robots.


In 2019 Camilleri then returned back to Australia to work as a Visual Effects Supervisor for MPC Adelaide (formerly known as Mill Film).
She has worked on over 40 high end feature films including Love and Monsters, Doctor Strange, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Mad Max: Fury Road and Captain America: Civil War. In addition to the above experience, she has also spent several years working as a Compositing Mentor for CG Spectrum College of Digital Art and Animation.

 

In 2021, Camilleri was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Visual Effects for her work as the Visual Effects Supervisor on the feature film Love and Monsters. 

Camilleri currently still resides in Australia working as a Visual Effects Supervisor.
